MoveWith ("MoveWith," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have when you use our website and iOS app.

By using MoveWith, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account information

When you sign up, we collect:

  • your email address
  • your display name
  • your account credentials managed by our authentication provider

Age check information

To confirm that users are old enough to use MoveWith, we ask for your year of birth during sign-up.

  • We use this information only to check age eligibility.
  • We do not store your year of birth after the age check.

Timezone information

We infer your timezone from your device settings and store it with your account so we can show session times in your local time and send notifications at the correct hour.

  • Your timezone is updated automatically when your device settings change.

Session and activity information

MoveWith collects session booking and attendance information solely to schedule and manage user sessions. We do not ask users to disclose health conditions, medical treatment, injury status, or other health-related information, and we do not use booking data to infer a user's health status.

We collect information about your use of MoveWith, including:

  • sessions you book
  • sessions you attend
  • sessions you miss
  • match confirmations
  • cancellations
  • reminder activity

Safety and moderation information

To keep MoveWith safe, we collect:

  • reports you submit about other users
  • reports other users submit about you
  • your blocked user list
  • account standing and moderation history

Subscription information

If you subscribe, we receive subscription status, entitlement, and transaction information from our payment processor to manage your access to paid features.

Push notification data

If you opt in to push notifications, we collect a push notification token and your notification preferences so we can send reminders and account-related notifications to your device.

Usage analytics

We collect product and website usage data, such as:

  • screens viewed
  • buttons tapped
  • feature usage
  • page views
  • performance data

Beta sign-up information

If you previously joined our waitlist, we collected:

  • your email address
  • your preferred session times

Support and communication information

If you contact us, we may collect:

  • your email address
  • the contents of your message
  • any other information you choose to send us

Technical information

We may also collect limited technical information automatically, such as:

  • device type
  • operating system
  • app version
  • browser type
  • IP address
  • crash logs
  • diagnostic data

2. How We Collect Information

We collect information in the following ways:

You provide it directly

For example, when you:

  • create an account
  • enter your display name
  • complete the age check
  • contact support
  • book or join sessions

Automatically from your device or browser

For example:

  • device timezone settings
  • app and website usage events
  • push notification tokens
  • technical and diagnostic data

Through service providers

We use trusted third-party services to help operate MoveWith, including:

  • Clerk for authentication and account management
  • Convex for backend storage and app data
  • Stream for video sessions
  • RevenueCat for subscription management
  • Resend and/or Zoho Mail for email delivery
  • Vercel Analytics for website analytics

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • create and maintain your account
  • confirm age eligibility
  • match you with workout partners
  • schedule and manage sessions
  • send reminders, confirmations, and important account updates
  • provide customer support
  • improve the app and website
  • monitor performance and fix bugs
  • detect fraud, abuse, or misuse
  • enforce our Terms and safety rules
  • comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. How We Share Information

We share personal information only when needed to operate MoveWith, comply with law, or protect our rights and users.

With your workout match

Because MoveWith is designed to connect you with a workout accountability buddy, we may share limited information with your matched partner, such as:

  • your display name and avatar
  • session time
  • attendance or cancellation status
  • other information needed to run the session

We do not share your email address with other users.

For legal and safety reasons

We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:

  • comply with law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or other legal process
  • enforce our Terms or policies
  • protect the safety, rights, or property of MoveWith, our users, or others
  • investigate fraud, security issues, or abuse

Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. Where practicable, we will notify users of a business transfer and provide information about available choices.

5. Analytics and Tracking

We use analytics to understand how people use MoveWith and to improve the experience.

In-app analytics

Our in-app analytics are associated with a randomly generated identifier. This identifier may be linked to your account internally for purposes such as troubleshooting and enforcing our Terms. We treat this identifier and associated usage data as personal information and apply the same protections described in this policy.

Website analytics

We use Vercel Analytics on our website for anonymous or pseudonymous page view and performance data. Vercel Analytics is designed to be cookie-free.

Tracking choices

If your browser or device sends a signal to limit tracking (such as Global Privacy Control), we will honor it as required by applicable law.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies. Our app may use device storage, app identifiers, and similar technologies to:

  • keep you signed in
  • remember preferences
  • improve performance
  • measure usage

Some service providers may also use technical identifiers necessary to provide their services. If we use cookies or similar technologies for anything beyond essential functions, we will disclose that where required.

7. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to:

  • provide the service
  • maintain account history
  • comply with legal obligations
  • resolve disputes
  • enforce agreements
  • protect against fraud and abuse

Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen in the app. When you delete your account:

  • your email address, display name, avatar, timezone, blocked user list, and notification preferences are permanently removed
  • your authentication account is deleted from our identity provider
  • your subscription record is deleted from our payment processor
  • your push notification tokens, in-app notifications, and analytics events are permanently deleted
  • any reports you filed or were the subject of have their free-text descriptions removed (we keep the category and outcome for safety purposes)
  • future booked sessions are canceled and your partner is notified
  • your account row is kept in anonymized form (no identifying information) so that partners who had sessions with you can still see "Deleted User" in their history

Active subscriptions

Deleting your account does not cancel your Apple subscription. Apple manages billing directly. You must cancel your subscription in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions before or after deleting your account. Refunds for Apple subscriptions are at Apple's discretion through reportaproblem.apple.com.

What we may keep after deletion

After deletion, we may retain the following (in anonymized form where possible):

  • safety records (flag categories, account standing) for fraud prevention
  • session history visible to other users showing "Deleted User" (no identifying information)
  • an internal deletion audit log (no personal information, only timestamps and step outcomes)
  • records required by law

Backups

Information may remain in backups for a limited period before being overwritten as part of our normal backup process.

8. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the rights below.

General rights

You can:

  • access your account information
  • update your display name or other profile details
  • delete your account in the app
  • request deletion by emailing us
  • opt out of marketing emails, if we send any
  • disable push notifications through your device settings
  • ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • ask for a copy of certain information we hold about you

Additional rights for California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you additional rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to know. You can request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
  • Right to delete. You can request that we delete the personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to correct. You can request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Right to non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

To exercise these rights, email us at hello@movewith.net. We will verify your identity before processing your request. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.

In the preceding 12 months, we have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 1 of this policy. We do not sell personal information and have not done so in the preceding 12 months.

Additional rights for users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (and equivalent UK and Swiss legislation) gives you additional rights and requires us to identify our legal bases for processing your personal information.

Legal bases for processing

We process your personal information on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract. We process account information, session matching, scheduling, notifications, and related information as necessary to provide the MoveWith service to you under our Terms.
  • Legitimate interests. We process usage analytics, technical information, and related data for our legitimate interests in improving the service, ensuring security, and preventing fraud. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Consent. Where we rely on your consent (for example, for push notifications and optional marketing), you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
  • Legal obligation. We may process information as necessary to comply with applicable laws.

Your rights under GDPR

In addition to the general rights listed above, you have the right to:

  • Request portability of your personal information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Object to processing of your personal information based on legitimate interests.
  • Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

We may need to verify your identity before completing some requests. We will respond to verifiable requests within the timeframes required by applicable law.

9. Push Notifications

If you allow push notifications, we may send:

  • session reminders
  • match confirmations
  • cancellations
  • important service messages

You can turn off push notifications at any time in your device settings. When you revoke push notification permissions, we will stop sending notifications. Your push notification token will be deleted when we detect that permissions have been revoked or when you delete your account.

10. Children's Privacy

MoveWith is intended for users 18 years of age or older.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn that a minor has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information.

No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us right away.

12. Data Breach Notification

If we become aware of a security breach that results in unauthorized access to, or disclosure of, your personal information, we will notify affected users consistent with applicable law. Where required, we will also notify the relevant supervisory or regulatory authorities.

Notification may be provided by email, in-app notice, or other means as appropriate under the circumstances.

13. International Data Transfers

MoveWith is operated from the United States. If you access the service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.

Those countries may have different data protection laws than your home country. Where required by applicable law, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission (or equivalent mechanisms) to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place before transferring your personal information to other countries.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" above and may provide additional notice through the app, website, or email.
